This educational series is presented by Seminole Behavioral Healthcare as part of its commitment toward a greater community understanding and response to those suffering from behavioral disorders. It is one of six components of Mental Health First Aid. The objectives of this course are as follows:

- Define substance abuse and how the differences between use, abuse, and dependence
- Describe Marijuana including its effects and safety concerns
- Describe Cocaine including its effects and safety concerns
- Describe Ecstasy including its effects and safety concerns
- Describe GHB including its effects and safety concerns
- Describe Xanax including its effects and safety concerns
- Describe Oxycontin including its effects and safety concerns
- Describe Hallucinogens including their effects and safety concerns
- Understand how a layperson might respond to someone with a substance abuse problem
- Understand the resources available to those in Central Florida who have a substance abuse concern
